Biography
Mauricio Sacchi received Ph.D. degree in Geophysics from the Department of Geophysics and Astronomy, University of British Columbia, Canada, in 1996. After a one-year postdoctoral fellowship at UBC, he joined the Department of Physics at the University of Alberta, Canada. At the University of Alberta, Dr Sacchi created the Signal and Analysis and Imaging Group  (SAIG), a research consortium funded by industry to solve problems of large seismic data reconstruction and imaging. SAIG has pioneered many technologies that are currently utilized by seismic data processing companies on a daily basis to de-noise, reconstruct and interpolate multidimensional seismic volumes. Dr Sacchi is Assistant Editor for the journal GEOPHYSICS and has been an invited editor for the IEEE Signal Processing Magazine (Volume 29, issue 3, 2012) special issue on Geophysical Data Processing. With Tad Ulrych he has published a book entitled Information-Based Signal Processing and Inversion (2004, ELSEVIER).
